Also, please note that I am a Gottman Seven Principles leader as well as a Gottman Bringing Baby Home educator and trainer. The Bringing Baby Home materials are very similar to the Seven Principles, except that in Bringing Baby Home we look at each aspect both as parents AND as a couple. The Seven Principles is very similar content without the parenting aspect.
The Bringing Baby Home content is best for couples who have children from pregnancy (and even pre-pregnancy) through preschool. If you have a child at home in this age range, I encourage you to consider Bringing Baby Home.
On the other hand, the Seven Principles content is best for couples who do not have (or soon plan to have) young children at home. It is best for any couple who is:
Pre-engaged
Premarital
Everyone from newlyweds to seniors
Any couple who wants to enhance a good marriage
Any couple who needs better conflict management and communication tools
If you and/or your partner are experiencing any of the following, I recommend a Gottman therapist rather than a class. Your therapist can then direct you about if and when a class may be appropriate.
Severe relationship distress
Emotional abuse
Domestic violence
Active addictions (alcohol, drug, sexual, gambling, etc.)
Serious mental health problems in one or both partners
